Central to our business are our benchmarking services. Our benchmarking journey began with North Sea operators over 30 years ago, analysing their IT spend and resourcing. Since then we have worked in partnership with the world’s largest integrated oil and gas companies to develop a deep understanding of their IT cost benchmarking needs across all major operating segments and business elements.

Our History
1986 Aupec (Aberdeen University Petroleum and Economic Consultants) formed as an operating division of the University of Aberdeen’s commercial arm.
1991 Launched the Upstream O&G IT (Full Spend) Benchmark focused initially on North Sea operators
1994 Downstream O&G IT (Full Spend) Benchmark introduced
1997 Aupec became an independent limited company, still based in Aberdeen University
1999 First ‘Deep-Dive’ Benchmark launched for ERP systems
2000 Aupec undergoes a successful management buyout and moves to dedicated office location in Aberdeen Science and Technology Park
2001 ‘Deep-Dive’ Benchmark developed for Technical Computing
2009 New Full IT Spend Benchmark launched with several Global Super Major Integrated Oil & Gas companies, based on the Upstream and Downstream Benchmark foundations
Aupec acquired to become a fully owned subsidiary of Parkmead Group
2011 Subsurface Applications Benchmark launched
2016 Moved into current office in Albyn Terrace, Aberdeen
2017 Refinery Applications Benchmark launched
